Hyundai Theta II engine

The Theta II engine family covers four codes on this page — G4KJ, G4KE, G4KD and G4KH — across two displacements and two induction types: 2.4L, 2.0L and 2.0L turbo.

The two 2.4L units are the G4KJ at 250 N.m at 4,250 rpm and 201–203 PS, and the G4KE at 228–230 N.m at 4,000 rpm and 178–179 PS. The two 2.0L units are the G4KD, 197–198 N.m at 4,600 rpm and 145–165 PS, and the turbocharged G4KH at 365 N.m at 4,500 rpm and 261–278 PS. All six listings are supplied New / 100% Tested.

Fitment overlaps heavily, which is why the code stamped on the block decides rather than the model name. The 2.4L pair shares Grandeur / Azera, Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson (TL), Cadenza, KX7, Optima, Sportage and Sorento (UM). The G4KD runs an older window — Tucson / ix35 (LM) 2009–2015, Sonata 2007–2014, Forte (TD), Optima / K5 and Sportage (SL). The turbo G4KH adds the N-badged cars: Elantra N, i30 N, Kona N and Veloster N.

Two of the six are second-iteration builds of a code already listed here — a G4KJ Gen2 and a G4KH Gen2 — so when you compare listings against each other, check which iteration the part number belongs to before comparing output figures.
