Toyota L engine
The Toyota L engine line here covers two indirect-injection diesel four-cylinders that stayed in service for decades: the 3L at 2,779cc and the 5L at 2,985cc.
On paper the two are close — 188 N.m at 2,400 rpm for the 3L against 191 N.m at 2,400 rpm for the 5L — so the choice is usually about which one your vehicle came with rather than about performance. Both are supplied New / 100% Tested.
As with most Toyota commercial diesels, the application lists are almost the same: Hilux, HiAce, Land Cruiser Prado and Dyna appear for both displacements. Confirm the code stamped on your block before ordering, because the two share their vehicle fitment and cannot be told apart by model name alone.
These engines sit alongside our common-rail KD diesels, which use a different injection system and a different displacement range — if your vehicle is a later one, check that family too.
